JEMBRANA ~
Members of Commission III of Bali Legislative Council (DPRD) reviewed the existing coastal abrasion in the area of Gilimanuk, Jembrana, in order to get immediate treatment from the central government.
“We’ve been reviewing beach with abrasion in Gilimanuk Port area. Even the harbor management is also ready to participate and help,” said Chairman of Commission III of DPRD Bali Nengah Tamba, after doing the review.
He said the coastal abrasion in Bali has increased annually, because of the natural factors and human activity itself.
“Either the port authority or the Transport of River Lake and Crossing (ASDP) Gilimanuk said will take part in managing the abrasion. They promised to assist the community in addressing coastal abrasion,” he said.
Related to the handling of coastal abrasion in Bali, said Tamba, there has been a master plan made by the Public Works Department and related agencies to overcome abrasion along the beaches in Bali.
“Public Works Department and related agencies collect data on the abrasion occurs in beaches in Bali,” he said.
Based on data from the Department of Public Works (MPW) of Bali, the total coastal abrasion in Bali has increased to 187.7 kilometers (km).
He said the abrasion that already handled is along 93.35 km. There are still 88.3 miles that has not been addressed.
