Japan Seeks Security Assurance for Its Citizens in West Java

BANDUNG ~

Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Yasuaki Tanizaki urged the West Java provincial government to provide security assurance for the Japanese working in the area, Deputy Governor of West Java province Deddy Mizwar stated here on Wednesday.

Deddy noted that the request was made following the recent execution of two Japanese citizens by the outlawed Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

“The request is made as an anticipatory measure,” Deddy stated, adding that currently, there are two thousand Japanese working in West Java province, mainly as experts in the industrial area.

Deddy remarked that the West Java government will ensure the safety of Japanese citizens working in the province.

“Not only Japanese but also all foreigners who legally enter Indonesia will be protected. This is about our image on how we can ensure the safety of foreigners who come to Indonesia,” Deddy added.
