Indonesia has lifted a temporary ban on imports of pork and its by-products after they were ruled out being the source of human swine flu.
The Trade Ministry said at the weekend that it decided to lift the 10-month ban because it considered that “the disease cannot be transmitted from animals to human.”
UN Food and Agriculture Organization experts say there is no risk of getting swine flu from eating pork.
Indonesia has recorded more than 1,000 confirmed cases of the A(H1N1) virus since it appeared in the country in June last year. Ten people in Indonesia have died from the disease.
