NUSA DUA ~ Laguna Resort & Spa took the honours in the sand sculpture competition at the annual Bali Hotels Association sport and cultures carnival held on August 26.

Its winning sculpture, titled Peace on Earth, featured a design incorporating two doves holding a globe and including an image of Mahatma Gandhi.

The sand-sculpting competition was held on Nusa Dua Beach, famed as a place with fine white sand.

The five-man Laguna sculpting team brought together I Wayan Redana (Marketing Communications), I Wayan Sukariana (F & B Service), I Nyoman Yasa (F & B Production), I Ketut Sutarja (F & B Production) and I Wayan Suarna (Engineering).

More than 10 star-rated hotels took part in this year’s carnival.

The Laguna, like many hotels, has an active community programme year-round organised by the hotel itself and the Bali Hotels Association, which includes area cleansing, mangrove planting, working with local orphanages and an elementary school mentoring programme.
