The Public Should Report any Spatial Abuses

Bali provincial government asked the community to actively participate in reporting and overseeing if there is violation on spatial.

“Spatial violation could happen in the high population of our area of about 4.2 million people,” said Head of Regional Development Planning Board (Bappeda) of Bali Putu Astawa, while giving speech at Podium of Bali Free Talk (PB3AS), in Denpasar on Sunday.

According to him, Bali as a tourist destination is in the effects of rapid population growth both natives and migrants, apart from travelers.

“All of this will have implications on meeting the needs of food, clean water and shelter. With a high number of the population, undeniably spatial violation could happen,” he said.

Astawa also stated on a number of investment opportunities in Bali. For granting licenses to investors, local provincial government has been in accordance with the study and the applicable rules, which refers to Regulation on Spatial Planning of Bali Province.

“The regulation also contains a philosophy of balance between man and God, man with fellow human beings and the environment (the concept of Tri Hita Karana), socio-economic (investment built to be able to provide welfare benefits to the surrounding community) and juridical (must be based on rules),” he explained.

In addition, said Astawa, to support agriculture and tourism based on culture and nature, and avoid ambiguous spatial in Bali, the provincial government plans to cooperate with the regencies / city government to make regulations to establish land in each region as the rice field that should not be converted.

Meanwhile, Head of Energy and Mineral Resources, Public Works Department of Bali, Putu Agus Budiana, responded to the problem of illegal mining in Bangli Regency and Karangasem Regency.

He argued, mining occurred in the areas is without a Mining Business License (IUP) and without planning. For that Bali provincial government has acted against the mining activities in any form because Bali is not a mining area.

Apart from violation of the rules, the mining location in Bangli is belongs to Geopark site of UNESCO that must be maintained so that the integrity of the peculiarities of natural stone can support tourism in Bangli.
