Russian man and Ukrainian woman arrested in Padangbai port for alleged fake PCR test results

Police in Karangasem regency this week arrested two foreign nationals for allegedly submitting fake PCR test results when crossing over to Padangbai port.

The two foreigners, identified as 26-year-old OM from Ukraine and 42-year-old DA from Russia, are still being investigated in the case.

“The suspected perpetrator came from Lombok (West Nusa Tenggara), so they were checked by officials from the medical office at the port,” Ni Nyoman Suartini, who heads Karangasem precinct, said.

Health officials at the port reportedly found questionable details about the test results they presented upon arrival at Padangbai port on Tuesday. Travelers are required to submit negative test results of a PCR or rapid antigen test to be permitted entry into Bali.

The matter was then reported to the local police station, as officials also tried to confirm those test results with the issuing hospital. The hospital later said they never issued the results that OM and DA had brought with them.
