Municipal Police of Badung Demolishes 102 Illegal Billboards

Municipal Police Units (Satpol PP) of Badung Regency, Bali, from January to December 2014 has demolished 102 illegal billboards or banners that still installed in the area.

“The demolition was carried out because the billboards did not have permit,” said Head of Satpol PP investigation of Badung, I Nyoman Badra in Mangupura on Friday.

According to him, Badung municipal police did not immediately dismantle the illegal billboards, but cast a reprimand, coordinate, and trust the officer to unload according to the warrant Regent of Badung.

Areas that should be free of advertisements and billboards are street space, parks, and sidewalks.

The billboard controlling will continue to be intensified because the violation of billboard installation is increasing.

Advertising is expected to process the permit in advance in accordance with applicable regulations.

“Through the applied pattern, coordination with employers will be continued either technically, economically and sociologically to overcome the existing problems,” he said.

Meanwhile Satpol PP Unit of Denpasar held the arrangement of billboards and banners that did not have license in order to maintain order and beauty of the city.

Head of Satpol PP Denpasar, Ida Bagus Alit Wiradana said the curbing of illegal billboards and banners in order to maintain the beauty of the city of Denpasar, since Denpasar is the Capital city of Bali Province and as the gateway of the island.

“The arrangement of billboards aimed to restructure the face of Denpasar to be more clean and tidy, and the installer must obtain permission from the Department of Parks and Cleanliness,” he said.

“Besides regulating billboards, we also regulate street vendors who sell in random place,” said Wiradana.

Wiradana further said this kind of curbing has been carried out almost every day, but cannot make the irresponsible people or parties to be deterrent.

To that end, he said, he mobilized his members to conduct monitoring so they can take action against people who installs billboards or banners up to giving prosecution sanction.

Further, Wiradana said he would do this in a sustainable way so that no more party installs billboard on the trees or the street vendors selling along the main streets in Denpasar.

“If there are members who see those who install a billboard, they may arrest and prosecute the actors in accordance with the Regulation.”

“Denpasar road  has become a strategic target for advertisers to promote their products, so our officers will be firm and will be not selective to demolish illegal billboards that littering or violates the rules,” he said.
