Interpol Fugitive Sold Russians’ Data, Extradited via Bali

Joint task force escorts extradition at Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, Friday (July 11, 2025) around 9:30 a.m.

DENPASAR, Bali – An Interpol fugitive, Alexander Vladimirovich Zverev (35), was extradited from Indonesia to Russia through Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on Friday morning (July 11, 2025) at 9:30 a.m. The Russian national was wanted for a series of serious cybercrimes and corruption charges in his home country, including allegations that he sold the personal data of Russian citizens through the Telegram platform.

Zverev had entered Indonesia in an attempt to escape prosecution after Russian authorities issued an Interpol Red Notice against him. He was captured by Jakarta Metro Police and held at Cipinang Detention Center before being flown back to Moscow. The extradition was carried out under tight diplomatic and armed security, supported by a joint task force comprising the Attorney General’s Office, the Bali High Prosecutor’s Office, Immigration, Ngurah Rai Airport Police, Interpol representatives, and the Brimob Bomb Squad from Bali Police.

According to Russian state media, Zverev was part of an organized criminal network that trafficked sensitive personal information, violated data privacy laws, and facilitated illegal access to restricted databases. Russian prosecutors have charged him under multiple articles of their Criminal Code, including violations of privacy, wiretapping, illegal data access, bribery, and participation in a criminal syndicate.

His extradition was made possible after the Russian government’s request was approved by the Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who issued Presidential Decree No. 12/2025 as the legal basis for the operation. The decision was also grounded on the principle of dual criminality, as Zverev’s alleged offenses are equally recognized as crimes under Indonesian law.

Zverev was escorted through VIP Room 2 of Ngurah Rai Airport and boarded Aeroflot flight SU 297 bound for Moscow. He was accompanied by four diplomatic staff from the Russian Embassy: Aleksandr Rodin, Evgenti Frachev, Artur Kharitonov, and Pave Shchukovski. The handover was witnessed by Indonesian officials including Assistant for Intelligence at the Bali Prosecutor’s Office, Candra Purnama; Ngurah Rai Police Chief Kombes Pol. I Komang Budiartha; Head of Immigration Ngurah Rai, Winarko; Head of Legal Services Division, I Wayan Redana; and Head of Immigration Detention Denpasar, Gede Dudy Duwita. Also present were AKP H. Aza from Interpol, Gede Oky from the Immigration surveillance unit, and Ipda I Gede Laba Wardiana from Bali Police’s criminal investigation division.

The operation involved 14 armed police personnel and three Brimob officers with automatic rifles. Security on the ground was reported to be safe, controlled, and orderly. The extradition marks a significant milestone in Indonesia’s ongoing commitment to international law enforcement cooperation, especially in combatting cross-border cybercrime and corruption.
