MANGUPURA – A street robbery targeting a foreign tourist occurred again in Kuta, Bali. The victim, an Indian national named Udasi Mukesh Gurmukhdas, 52, was attacked while walking back to his hotel after dinner.
Thanks to swift police action, officers from Kuta Police Station arrested one of the two perpetrators, identified as I Ketut Duriada, 29, on Friday (14/3) at 11:30 PM. The second suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, is still being pursued.
The incident took place on Sunset Road, Kuta, Badung, on Thursday (20/2) at around 10:30 PM. The victim was walking back to his hotel when two men on a motorbike approached him. One of the assailants forcefully pulled off his 30-gram gold necklace before speeding away.
“After the incident, the victim immediately reported it to Kuta Police Station. He described the perpetrators as two men, with the one who snatched his necklace having a slim build,” said Denpasar Police Public Relations Officer AKP I Ketut Sukadi on Sunday (16/3).
Following the report, the Kuta Police Criminal Investigation Unit, led by Ipda I Putu Santhi Adnyana, launched an investigation. Based on witness statements and evidence from the crime scene, officers managed to apprehend I Ketut Duriada near Sunset Road, Kuta, Badung.
“The suspect was arrested in the Sunset Road area,” confirmed Sukadi.
Duriada is currently being held at Kuta Police Station while authorities continue their search for his accomplice.
“The suspect and evidence have been secured at Kuta Police Station. Items confiscated include a Yamaha NMax motorbike used in the crime, a helmet, a shirt, pants, and a pair of shoes,” added Ipda Santhi Adnyana.
Police are urging the public, especially tourists, to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to prevent further incidents.
