Floods Causing Severe Congestion in Denpasar

Floods as high as 30 centimeters in Renon, Denpasar caused severe congestion in some streets in the provincial capital of Bali, last Friday.

The flood occurred at Jalan Puputan Niti Mandala Renon allegedly due to blocked drainage channel because of heavy rain in Denpasar.

Congestion began to appear in Jalan Imam Bonjol, Denpasar near Kuta, Badung regency to Jalan Teuku Umar, Denpasar.

Vehicle both motorcycles and cars and other large vehicles cannot move around Jalan Hayam Wuruk, Jalan Sudirman, Jalan Dewi Sartika, Jl Yos Sudarso up to Tjok Agung Tresna and Jalan Puputan Niti Mandala Renon which is the central Government of Bali Province.

Heavy rain for four hours in Denpasar was also resulted the lobby of Sanglah Hospital flooded as high as 10 centimeters.

“This is happened for the first time that water goes down to the lobby,” said Head of General Division of Sanglah hospital Nengah Sumerta, in Denpasar.

The water coming into the lobby, he said, not because of blockage in the sewer in the hospital. However, caused by the higher volume of water in front of the hospital.

“We also have coordinated with the Department of Public Works, even two weeks ago the drainage had already been checked,” he said.

Thus, Head of Public Relations Sanglah Hospital, dr. Kadek Nariyantha said during rainy season there is always puddle on the street around the hospital and cause congestion.
