Denpasar as the capital city of Bali again held the annual cultural and arts festival namely Mahabandana Prasada and the first Festival of Puputan Badung on September 20th, 2014..
Head of Denpasar Cultural Deparment Made Mudra said that the 2014 Mahabandana Prasada is more splendor as it is held in the same time with “Puputan Badung Festival”.
“This year will be better than the previous year because it coincides with the 1st Puputan Badung Festival by Banjar (village) Tainsiat,” he said in Denpasar on Monday.
Various activities will be collaborated to commemorate the heroic events of Puputan Badung through the procession of Grebeg Aksara followed by Gamelan Baleganjur and other cultural and arts performances.
Various cultural activities will be held on the festival centered at Catus Pata Statue of Ida Cokorda Mantuk Ring Rana, Banjar Tainsiat, Denpasar.
Torch parade involving 108 people will enliven the opening of the event.
The decision of using 108 torches, according to Darmaja, based on the 108th Commemoration of Puputan Badung.
There are also exhibitions held during the event, the exhibition of heroic photographs and film screenings of heroic moments.
Chairman of the Organizing Committee of Puputan Badung Festival Gede Darmaja said that through this festival, it is hoped can evoke Puputan Badung historical events that had occurred in the area of Banjar Tainsiat.
Darmaja added, in 2008 Banjar Tainsiat also held activities to commemorate Puputan Badung by parading replica of Singapraga Keris (traditional sacred weapon).
“This year we want to hold the same thing through Puputan Badung Festival in synergy with Mahabandana Prasada of Denpasar city,” said Darmaja.
