DENPASAR, Bali – A child abduction case in Bali involving a 9-year-old British boy has drawn public attention after the child, SEB (nicknamed Georgie), was reported missing by his mother, Kathryn Rosalie Joy Dench (41). The case, now under investigation by the Denpasar City Police, began when the boy disappeared outside a villa in Serangan, South Denpasar, on April 21, 2025.
According to the police report filed under LP/B/299/IV/2025/SPKT/Polresta Denpasar/Polda Bali, SEB had gone outside to collect a food delivery but failed to return. His mother suspected abduction and filed a formal report with local authorities.
Criminal Investigation Unit Chief Kompol Laorens Rajamangapul Heselo confirmed that both parents and witnesses have been questioned. “We are still gathering additional statements,” he said on Sunday (July 20).
Further investigation revealed the child had boarded a Super Air Jet flight with his biological father, BJWB, at 8:00 p.m. that same evening. The two are now in Tangerang Selatan, near Jakarta.
Despite this discovery, the mother insists the incident qualifies as abduction under Indonesian law. “This is not just a custody dispute—this is a violation of Article 330 of the Criminal Code. He took my child without consent,” said Kathryn, who faces ongoing difficulties in establishing contact with her son.
She added that during a rare video call months ago, her son seemed emotionally distressed and unable to speak freely about his life in Bali—even avoiding talk about his pet dog. Since then, all communication has been cut off by the father.
Police say legal proceedings will continue unless a mutual agreement is reached between the parents.
