Immigration Office Ngurah Rai, Bali, arrested 17 foreigners from six countries who violated the immigration permit that used tourist visa while working in Bali.
“They are abusing the permit (immigration) when they are in Bali. Further action is they will be deported,” said Chief Immigration Office Class I Ngurah Rai Cucu Koswala in Kuta, Badung regency, on Thursday.
The arrest of 17 foreigners is based on the results of monitoring and enforcement of local immigration three times during November 2014.
The first arrest was on Tuesday (11/11), an Australian who found to be an English teacher in a course in Jimbaran while he only has a tourist visa.
The Australian tourist was also known to have several times involved in a crime in his country for sexual abuse of boys under age and disabled children.
On Friday (21/11), Ngurah Rai Immigration arrested five Turkish citizens who are also abusing the immigration permit. They only have tourist visa but they works as pre-wedding photographer.
The Turkish citizens were arrested in three different luxury hotels in Jimbaran, South Kuta.
While from the monitoring and enforcement operations on 25-26 November 2014, a joint team from a number of agencies arrested 11 foreigners from five countries that abusing immigration permit.
Two US citizens, Three Australians and one from UK, and Japan. While five others are from Norway.
Ngurah Rai immigration recorded during the period of January-October 2014 there are 121 foreigners have been deported for violating immigration permission.
“The number is increasing. Perhaps they thought that the supervision is not good,” he said.
