DENPASAR ~
Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika asked for the online Hotel and Restaurant Tax (PHR) to be immediately applied in each regencies / city on the island to increase local revenues.
“Not only increase local revenue, the use of this system will greatly assist local governments especially with Revenue to check and supervise income source from PHR and to prevent fraud,” Pastika said in Denpasar on Wednesday.
He asserted, PHR is essentially a tax paid by consumers of hotel or restaurant, which is collected and paid by hotels and restaurants.
“During this time the public perception of the PHR is paid by the hotel and restaurant, that such statement needs to be clarified,” said Pastika.
Meanwhile, Director of Regional Development of Bali Regional Bank (BPD) Made Sudja stated, the trial installation of online PHR has been implemented in Gianyar, Badung and Denpasar.
According to him, the use of this device has been going well, but in some hotel and restaurant, the device is often damaged by the hotels and restaurants’ individual or left offline, so that BPD Bali could not check transactions and PHR collected by those hotels and restaurants.
Therefore, Sudja expected Bali provincial government to immediately make regulations to crack down on persons who intentionally damage the device.
