Bali Governor Agrees Tourism Industry should Protect SME

Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika expressed agreement with the advices from a number of fractions in Bali Provincial Parliament that the development of tourism industry in Bali protects the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) sector and cooperative company.

“I agreed and this already mentioned in Bali Provincial Regulation on the Protection and Empowerment of Cooperatives and SME,” said Pastika in Denpasar, on Monday.

In addition, he also agreed with the suggestion that the development of tourism destinations in order to pay attention to some important aspects such as natural tourism resources and cultural potential into a tourist attraction, market potential and so on.

“I also agree related to tourism marketing in order to empower the role of the Regional Tourism Promotion Agency. Similarly, existing tourism agencies such as Asita, PHRI, Gahawisri, HPI and others to work together for sustainable tourism development,” he said.

Related to the suggestions of Gerindra fraction, about the uneven access of tourism to the entire community, Pastika said it is important to prepare regulations that provide opportunities to the entire community to enjoy the tourism evenly and fairly.

“Access of tourism to public has also stated in Bali Provincial Regulation on Cultural Tourism of Bali. On the other hand, the input about equalization tourism evenly and fairly certainly will deeply be studied,” said Pastika.

Earlier, Provincial DPRD (Parliament) Bali member Gede Ketut Nugrahita Pendit to continuously increasing tourist visits through various activities, then all the consequences that follow should be prepared both infrastructure and superstructure.

“Equitable access to the benefits of tourism for the welfare of society must be real. Likewise, the collective consciousness of the negative and positive impacts should be clear,” he said.

According to him, when the community is mobilized for tourism, the result should not only enjoyed by small group. “Therefore, it is important to prepare regulations on Bali tourism that can provide opportunities to the entire community to enjoy the tourism evenly and fairly,” he said.

Likewise, Golkar Party requested Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika to anticipate the carrying capacity of tourism related to the target of tourist arrivals reaching 30 million people in 2029.
