RENON ~ The governor of Bali collected an award last week from Minister of Culture and Tourism Jero Wacik naming Bali the best spa destination in the world, an official said.

Bali was chosen to receive The Wellness Award 2009 in Berlin, Germany, on March 12.

Head of the Indonesian Spa Association Dr. Mooryanti Soedibyo said Bali was chosen over other destinations, such as Thailand and the Maldives, because treatments in Bali were unique and healing.

“Bali offers holistic treatments from head to toe, and not just externally, but also for internal and emotional wellbeing,” Dr. Soedibyo said.

He said Bali offered a choice of around 600 spas, and that the number was growing.
