Badung to hold Agricultural Culture Festival

Government of Badung Regency, Bali, will hold the 3rd Agricultural Culture Festival on 7th – 10th of August 2014, in North Badung. This festival is held as an effort to raise the existence of agriculture in the northern region of Badung.

“The respond from the community for this event each year is increasing, because in this event in addition to exhibiting excellence agricultural sector, there is also cultural arts performance related to agriculture,” said Head of the Department of Agriculture, Horticulture and Forestry Badung Regency I Gusti Ketut Agung Sudaratmaja, in Plaga Village, Badung, Bali, on Thursday.

Agung Sudaratmaja said that this event is also used as media of agricultural counseling and evaluation as well as the momentum of development evaluation in Badung. For example, in the preparation of products for the exhibition, demonstration, marketing and so forth.

“In Agricultural Culture Festival we will also hold several competitions, including scientific writing competition for agricultural counseling and introduction of agricultural innovation for the community and students,” said Sudaratmaja.

The 2014 Agricultural Culture Festival will present exhibition of various agricultural commodities. It is hoped that there will be transaction from the visitor at the exhibition.

Sudaratmaja stated about other strategic significance of the existence of the festival is answering the inequality of development of northern Badung regency with the south.

“The festival is also held to promote natural resources in north Badung, so the area will be well-known by travelers,” he said.

To describe the position between the agricultural and tourism, he said, one of the best solution is to build a synergy of both. One of the efforts is to develop the tourism villages, especially those in the North Badung such as Tourism Village of Carangsari, Plaga, Kiadan and Belok Sidan.
