ULUWATU, Bali – An Australian tourist became the latest victim of a Cheeky Monkey Raid in Bali after one mischievous primate slipped into her luxury villa in Uluwatu. The raid left her room in chaos, but she found the incident more amusing than upsetting.
As reported by Daily Mail, Jazz Walsh, a Sydney office worker, was enjoying a massage when the monkey entered her room through a bathroom window. The intruder rummaged through her belongings, scattered items across the floor, and took her AirPods out of their case — leaving the case behind.
A resort staff member discovered the break-in after finding a pair of headphones outside the window, believed to have been tossed by the monkey. The staff then sent Walsh a video message showing the chaotic scene, with the voice in the clip saying: “Good afternoon, madam. I think a monkey has come through your room.”
Despite the mess, Walsh said she couldn’t be mad. “It was hard to be annoyed when it was so funny,” she wrote on TikTok on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
The resort, located near the popular Bingin Beach, is known for its spacious terraces, gardens, and cliff-side restaurant. After the incident, Walsh moved to a mountain resort in Uluwatu but still recommended the first property to her followers.
“The incident definitely won’t stop me from returning to Bali. You’re in the monkeys’ home environment, so it’s something you have to be mindful of. We thought the incident was very funny and quite cute,” she told Perth Now.
A similar incident occurred last year to a British tourist named Sylvia, who warned guests to always lock their doors and windows after monkeys stole terrace lightbulbs during her stay. “I locked myself in and watched them having fun in my pool and everywhere on the terrace!” she wrote in her review.
While their antics may be bothersome, many visitors agree that Bali’s monkeys remain a quirky — and unforgettable — part of the island experience, as long as doors and windows are kept securely shut.
