American Murderer Jailed for 12 Years

The murderer of American citizen Murtazam Aulawi (18) on a rampage at the Denpasar District Court, Bali, when judges sentenced him to 12 years in prison.

In the hearing led by Chief Justice, AA Ketut Anom Wirakanta on Wednesday, the defendant got unconscious after the judge decided the defendant was guilty of murder.

“The defendant is convincingly unlawful premeditated murder and violating Articleof the Criminal Code,” said Ketut Anom Wirakanta.

Decision of the judge on the Aulawi Murtazam was lighter than the demand of the prosecutor who demanded for 15 years in prison.

After the trial the defendant’s mother was hysterical to hear the verdict and asked the judge not to punish him. “Do not punish my child, I beg for justice,” said the mother of the accused.

When the defendant woke up after got unconscious, he directly hit the window of the court’s room.

The defendant committed the murder on February 16, 2014 at 2:00 pm against Paul Robb Latourell in Denpasar.

The murder was started from his friend’s invitation, Marsianus who had frequent sexual intercourse with the victim and often rewarded some money.

Then Marsianus often borrowed a cell phone of Multazam to send a short message to the victim that made the victim was familiar with Multazam.

The defendant also willing to engage in intercourse with the victim because of his debt and willing to be paid Rp200 thousand.

However, the day before the defendant had sexual intercourse, he bought a knife at Kereneng market, Denpasar.

Then at 0:30 pm the accused went to the victim’s house along with Marsianus Simarto who previously did sexual intercourse with the victim.

However, because the defendant was in fear and pain and there was an argument that made the victim angry and hit his head and finally the accused stabbed the victim repeatedly with a knife that he bought

In the hearing of the ruling, the prosecutor stated that he accepted the judge’s decision. However, the defendant’s lawyer is still considering it.
