A New Zealander Sentenced Five Months in Jail

A New Zealander Richard Wackrow (40) was sentenced to five months in jail by Denpasar District Court Judge on Tuesday, after he was proven had mistreating his girlfriend Lisa Christina.

“The defendant has been proved persecuting the victim to injuries and in violation of Article 351 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of violence,” said Chief Justice, AA Ketut Anom Wirakanta, in Denpasar.

Previously Public Prosecutor Ary Kusuma demanding seven months in prison.

The punishment were given after the judges also considering the mitigating factors that the accused confessed guilt in the trial, feeling guilty for his actions, promised not to repeat it and had behave politely in court and he has never been sentenced.

The defendant mistreated his girlfriend on September 4, 2014, at 24.00 pm at Jalan Balangan Beach, Jimbaran, Bali by hand and helmet. The defendant committed to do the abuse as he was annoyed to the victim as she could not keep her balance on the bike.

Defendant without his legal counsel stated that he accepted the verdict of the judges, according to the Prosecutor General.
