About 11 foreign citizens drowned in Bali recorded in Forensic Installation General Sanglah Hospital, Denpasar, from January to October, 2014.

“From January to October 2014, we handle 11 foreign citizens who died from drowning,” said Head of Forensic Medicine SMF Sanglah Hospital, Dr. Ida Bagus Putu Alit, in Denpasar on Tuesday.

The total death from drowning that has been handled from January to October 2014 is 23 cases consisting of 11 foreigners and 12 local citizens.

“For the age of the victims drowned the average age range from 30 to 45 years,” he said.

Of the total deaths from drowning, he said, most occur in the sea with a total of 18 cases and five cases in river.

In addition, the age factor is also a major factor for travelers in productive age that look for a challenge by doing some activities without regard to safety.

“Based on gender there were 19 men and four women,” he said.

He added that foreigners are from Australia, Malaysia, India, China, the Netherlands and Germany.

Compared to 2013 the number of deaths foreigners drowning was 27 cases which means this year has decreased.
