New Life: The dramatic and lifelike Satria Gatotkaca statue has just undergone a fresh paint job and once again sparlkes in Bali’s year-round sunshine. Unveiled in October 1993 beside Ngurah Rai International Airport, the status depicts the Hindu Mahabharata character Gatotkaca, who had magical powers of flight and air security. Positioned parralel to the airport’s runway, it is believed to offer spiritual protection to flights landing and departing.
