Five Killed in Anti-Terror Java Raid

JAKARTA

Five terror suspects were killed in two separate police raids in Java on Wednesday, the latest in a series of anti-terror operations nationwide, police said.

“Five were killed and one arrested,” national police spokesman Edward Aritonang told reporters. “We suspect they were planning to launch a terror attack within the next few weeks.”

Three were shot dead at around noon as they got out of a taxi in Cawang, East Jakarta.

A further two were killed in a raid on a suspected militant hideout at in West Java city of Cikampek, about 80 kilometres from Jakarta.

The police have launched a series of anti-terror raids since the discovery of a terrorist training facility in a remote region of Aceh province in February.

“They were linked to the terrorist training facility in Aceh,” Aritonang said.
