Bali’s crime rate rose 4.8 percent in the first half of 2010 compared to the same period last year, Bali Police said.

Police recorded 609 incidents of crime between January and June, with Denpasar and Badung topping the list, followed by Buleleng, Tabanan and Gianyar.

Spokesman Gede Sugianyar Dwi Putra said: “Burglary was most prevalent, followed by car and motorbike theft, aggravated robbery, homicide and aggravated assault.”
