BANDA ACEH
A landslide has killed at least five gold miners in Aceh province, a Red Cross volunteer said on Tuesday.
The traditional miners were buried on Monday at Panton Luas mountain in Southern Aceh district.
“The miners were taking a break at the time of the sudden landslide at 14:30pm. At least six people were buried,” Red Cross Indonesia volunteer Jet Hendrian said.
Five bodies and a survivor have been pulled from the dirt but there are fears the death toll could rise, Hendrian said.
“There were many miners there so there could be more victims,” he said.
