JIMBARAN BAY ~ “Business is picking up,†Nyoman Susi, 63, who has been selling shells at Jimbaran Bay for the last 12 years, tells The Bali Times.
Susi, a feisty mother of three grown children whose husband works as a gardener in Kerobokan, says in her heyday she could sell a large shell for as much as Rp500,000 (US$54.91) to passing tourists from nearby hotels, notably the five-star Four Seasons nearby.
These days, she says, she’s lucky to take in Rp100,000 a day, though she’s hopeful for the future. (BT/WJF)
