Thousands of fish were washed up on Kedungu Beach in Tabanan this week, possibly because of the rapid grown of toxic “red tide†organisms in the surrounding seas.
Local residents reported seeing thousands of fish on the beach on Monday and Tuesday, community chief Ketut Setiasa said.
The find mirrors a similar occurrence in Badung regency last month. The cyclical El Nino weather phenomenon is blamed for causing the red tide.
