SINGAPORE ~ Singapore received a record 9.7 million visitors in 2006, up nine percent from the previous year and exceeding the government’s target, the tourism board said.
Tourism revenues also surpassed targets to reach S$12.4 billion (US$8.10 billion), up 14.5 percent over 2005, the Singapore Tourism Board said.
Asia accounted for 72.9 percent of the total visitor arrivals, with Indonesia, China, Australia, India and Malaysia emerging as the top tourism sources, it said.
