SINGARAJA ~ Twenty-six motorbikes were seized by police after they stopped an illegal race in Kelurahan Panarukan and Tukadmungga villages, Buleleng, police said.

“Apart from disturbing local residents, these kids are also dangerous and need to be stopped before they hurt themselves or anyone else,” police officer Made Mustiada said.

Mustiada also said that as well as the confiscation of 26 bikes, others were fined for speeding and using illegal exhaust pipes.

He said local residents had reported the race, which was confirmed to have had up to Rp5million (US$416) in illegal bets riding on it.

“During our investigation we found the race was organized with jockeys, motorbike suppliers and sponsors,” Mustiada said.
