DENPASAR ~ Bali’s Health Department is continuing its fight against rabies by asking for participation from the people of Bali, an official said on Wednesday.
Department chief Dr. I Nyoman Sutedja said anyone bitten by a dog since 2008 should get vaccinated against the virus immediately and complete a course of three injections.
Dr. Sutedja said vaccinations were available free from community health centers and hospitals in Badung and Denpasar.
He said people must be aware the anti-rabies vaccination was not complete until they had received the full course of three injections.
“You are not safe from rabies unless you have the three injections. Some people seem to be assuming that once is enough and don’t return for the other two,” he said.
The doctor said the department continued to spread information and take surveys about the virus.
