Ceremonial: The six-monthly Hindu festival of Galungan fell on Wednesday this week, with homes around the island fronted with soaring penjor, or decorated bamboo poles, in homage to the Gods. During this holy period – which concludes with Kuningan 10 days later – good is deemed to be prevailing and the Gods descend to Earth.
