DENPASAR ~ The body of a man was found dead in a pond in Puputan Park, Denpasar, on March 5, police said.
Head of West Denpasar Police Ida Bagus Mantra said I Wayan Subadri, 49, originally from Karangasem but residing on Jl. Sedap Malam, was found around 11am by passersby.
“We don’t yet know the cause of death, but we found no signs of violence on his body and he had not been robbed,” Mantra said.
Mantra said during their investigation, officers found Subadri had paid to get jewelry he had pawned back the previous morning, but they had no more information about the events that lead up to his death.
Head of the forensic department at Sanglah Hospital Dr. Ida Bagus Putu Alit said Subadri had died around 4am, but could not confirm the cause of death until an autopsy had been performed.
“We’re still waiting for the family to give us the go-ahead for an autopsy,” Mantra said.
Denpasar government spokesman Made Erwin Suryadarma Sena said the sanitation department had drained the water from the pond and purification ceremonies would he held.
