Station Bans Smooching
WARRINGTON ~ A British train station has erected a no kissing sign to stop lovers going full steam ahead with their over-amorous farewells.
Commuters have been told: If you want to get up to that kind of business, do it in the car park.
The sign has gone up at the drop-off point at Warrington Bank Quay station in the town of Warrington, between Liverpool and Manchester in northwest England.
Boy Weds Dog
NEW DELHI ~ A group of Indian tribals have married off a toddler to a female dog in eastern India in a bid to prevent his predicted death at the hands of a tiger, a report said.
The ceremony at a Hindu temple in Orissa state’s Jajpur district was conducted with all the rituals observed at traditional weddings, including a dowry for the bride – the village bitch.
Parents of the groom, one-and-a-half year old Sangula, were advised to arrange the marriage when they noticed a tooth growing from their infant son’s upper gum – considered a bad omen that would lead to the boy being killed in a tiger attack, the UNI news agency reported.
Taxi Runs over Crocodile
SYDNEY ~ A taxi driver ran over and killed a crocodile in the central business district of an Australian town on Wednesday, police said.
When the driver reported the accident, “police thought he may have been a bit strange or under the influence of liquor or something but it was all above board,” said Inspector Ray Pringle.
The taxi collided with the one-meter croc while driving in Mount Isa in the early hours of Wednesday morning, Pringle said.
