Art Greco

This week, one of my fave venues to enjoy a few sundowners at, Ku De Ta, hosted an art exhibition with gorgeous Greek-born sculptor and Bali resident Filippos. Friends and family of the artist, socialites and locals gathered for the sunset cocktail party to celebrate the opening of his latest collection of works, Sculpture of the Sea.

With a flow of cocktails and canapés charging the sunset crowd, Filippos told the stories behind the sculptures of this particular exhibition and the intense spiritual energy he drew from the series of six dramatic pieces, which reflect the eternal rhythm of waves and embrace the beauty of nature, marine life and shells. The pieces – made from onyx, red and white marble, mother of pearl, teakwood, silver and stainless steel – were as dazzling as the US$5,000-$18,000 price tags they sported, and as hot as the evening’s guest list, which included Filippos’ wife and artist Ananda, Danielle Mohan, Deborah Gabinetti, Latiffa Weber, Anita La Coco, Sophie Digby, Aki Kotsamichalis, Shunyata, Gina Brezini and Brad Harrington.
