Village Mourns Five Drowned Students

SELEMADEG ~ Five high school students were swept into the sea when a huge wave hit Bonian Beach, Tabanan, last Sunday, officials said.

According to police, the students, who were all from Sukawati village, were about to wash after playing football on the beach when the wave hit.

A search-and-rescue team and Selemadeg Police said the bodies of I Made Ade Darma Hermawan, 13, Made Candra Desa Rela Putra, 18, I Gusti Ngurah Ananta Primantara, 20, I Gede Novi Saputra, 17, and Komang Ari Susanto, 17, were recovered on Monday.

The families of the students asked for the bodies of the victims to be delivered directly to them instead of to a hospital.
