Public Transport Vehicles Inspected

DENPASAR ~ Many public transport vehicles were deemed unfit for the roads during a recent inspection by the Denpasar Transportation Department, police and the Public Order Department, an official said.

Leader of the inspection Ketut Sriawan said 15 vehicles were impounded in the inspection, the majority of which had expired Vehicle Condition Test documents.

He said many of the drivers also had no driving license.

“These inspections are held for road users’ safety. All vehicles must be safe for drivers and passengers,” he said.

He said similar inspections would be taking place regularly in order to make Bali’s roads safer and that the department would be taking action against motorcycle drivers who parked illegally.

“This is to increase people’s awareness of traffic regulations,” Sriawan said.
