DENPASAR ~ The Bali Kuta Residence Apartment Complex on Jl. Majaphit in Kuta is being subject to protests by local residents and members of Badung Assembly, an official said.

Secretary of Badung Assembly’s Commission A Wayan Suweca said the building impinged upon the margins of the street, making it look narrow.

“Based on planning regulations, Bali Kuta Residence is clearly in the wrong; buildings must be five meters from the street,” Suweca said on Wednesday.

He said he had discussed the issue with other assembly members, but was disappointed by their lack of motivation to inspect the building.

Meanwhile, Public Works Department chief I Ketut Suwandi said he had sent officials to check the building.

“My staff have checked the building, but found no problems,” Suwandi said.
