NORTH LOMBOK, Indonesia — Travelling between the Gili Islands, Lombok, Bali and destinations farther east often involves a mix of boats, ground transfers and separate bookings. PT Trans Gili Network is seeking to simplify that process by bringing transport, island activities and longer sailing journeys into one travel network.
Based in North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, the company operates two main brands: Trans Gili, which focuses on transport and island activities, and KOMODOWILD, which specialises in longer sailing journeys connecting Lombok with Sumbawa, Labuan Bajo and Komodo National Park.
Lalu Fikriadi Ilham, CEO and owner of PT Trans Gili Network, said the idea grew from his experience working with travellers moving between Indonesia’s island destinations.
“Visitors can explore mainland Lombok, discover Rinjani and Sumbawa, continue to Bali, or sail towards Labuan Bajo and Komodo,” Ilham said. “Through Trans Gili and KOMODOWILD, our goal is to make journeys between destinations easier to plan.”
Trans Gili provides booking and coordination for sea and land transport linking Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno with destinations across Lombok and Bali.
One of its main connections links the Gili Islands with Kuta Lombok through Bangsal Harbour in North Lombok.
Depending on the route, travellers can use public boats, fast boats, shared shuttle services and private cars. Private speedboat transfers are also available for travellers seeking a more direct option.
The network also includes inter-island connections to Bali, including Padang Bai and Sanur, as well as onward travel involving Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan.
By combining sea and land transport arrangements, the service is intended to reduce the need for travellers to coordinate several operators separately when moving between islands.
Beyond transport, Trans Gili offers public and private snorkelling trips around Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno.
Public trips operate as scheduled group excursions, while private trips provide a dedicated boat for couples, families or groups. Selected departure points along North Lombok’s coastline are also available for private excursions.
Typical snorkelling itineraries include coral reef areas, sea turtle habitats and the underwater sculpture installation near Gili Meno. Depending on the package, trips may include guides, snorkelling equipment and GoPro photo and video documentation.
Activities and routes remain subject to sea conditions and safety considerations.
The company also offers access to other outdoor activities, including sunset boat trips, cycling and surfing around the Gili Islands, Mount Rinjani trekking and excursions to destinations in Sumbawa such as Kenawa Island and Moyo Island.
For travellers continuing farther east, PT Trans Gili Network also operates KOMODOWILD, a marine travel brand focused on sailing routes through Sumbawa, Labuan Bajo and Komodo National Park.
One of its main offerings is a four-day, three-night sailing journey from Lombok to Labuan Bajo.
Travellers beginning in Gili Trawangan, Gili Air or Gili Meno can arrange connecting transport to the sailing departure point before continuing across Lombok and Sumbawa.
The itinerary may include Kenawa Island, Saleh Bay, Komodo National Park, Pink Beach, Padar Island, Manjarite and Kelor Island.
Activities along the route include snorkelling, island exploration, short hikes and wildlife observation, depending on local conditions and the itinerary.
KOMODOWILD also offers journeys in the opposite direction, from Labuan Bajo to Lombok, as well as private sailing arrangements and one-day Komodo speedboat tours departing from Labuan Bajo.
Ilham has worked in Indonesia’s tourism and travel industry since 2013, experience he said shaped the company’s approach to serving travellers across Lombok and the surrounding islands.
“My experience since 2013 has taught me that travellers remember not only the places they visit, but also how the journey unfolds,” he said. “Convenience, service, and the experience along the way are just as important as the destination itself.”
PT Trans Gili Network maintains operational support in the Bangsal Harbour area of Pemenang, North Lombok, and on Gili Trawangan.
The two locations handle travel enquiries, reservations and coordination for travellers moving to and from the Gili Islands.
By combining online booking with local operational support, the company aims to make multi-destination trips easier to organise for travellers moving between Lombok, the Gili Islands and destinations farther east.
Further information about transport, island transfers and activities is available through Trans Gili, while sailing itineraries to Labuan Bajo and Komodo are offered through KOMODOWILD.
