KINTAMANI, Bali — A British tourist travelling through a remote plantation road in Kintamani with his son discovered a Balinese farmer lying dead beneath a motorcycle.

The victim, identified as Ketut Selamat, 49, was found on Tuesday, October 6, along a plantation road leading toward Pondokan Dadem in Sukawana Village, Bangli.

British national Mike Lambrou, 55, was riding through the area with his son when he noticed a person lying beneath a motorcycle on the side of the road.

The pair had been travelling through an off-road route in the forest and plantation area around Sukawana.

Lambrou stopped and approached the man, who was lying beneath a red Honda Beat motorcycle and appeared to be seriously injured.

He moved the motorcycle away from Selamat’s body and checked for a pulse.

Believing the man was already dead, Lambrou then headed toward the nearest main road to find help.

He eventually encountered a local resident, Jro Widiarta, and explained what he had found.

The two returned to the location, where Selamat was confirmed to be unresponsive.

Local officials, the victim’s family and police were subsequently notified.

Officers from Kintamani Police and Bangli Police later arrived at the scene and conducted an examination with medical personnel.

Police said Selamat had injuries to the back of his head, bruising around his right eye and bleeding from his nose and ears.

A medical examination also indicated a fracture at the back of the skull.

Authorities initially suspected that Selamat may have been involved in a single-vehicle motorcycle accident, although the exact circumstances of his death had not been conclusively established.

An autopsy was carried out to determine the precise cause of death.

Police are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
