SEMINYAK, Bali — A late-night altercation involving Australian tourists at a bar in Seminyak escalated after security staff intervened, with one foreign national later allegedly attacking a security officer near the entrance.

The incident occurred on Thursday, October 1, at a bar on Jalan Kayu Jati in Kerobokan Kelod, North Kuta.

According to police, the disturbance initially began inside the venue and involved two Australian nationals.

Security personnel stepped in to break up the confrontation and removed those involved from the bar to prevent the situation from escalating further.

However, the disturbance did not end there.

Police said one of the foreign nationals, who was later seen shirtless in video footage circulating on social media, returned toward the entrance after being removed.

He allegedly confronted and struck a security officer who attempted to stop him from re-entering the venue.

Video footage of the incident shows the shirtless man running toward the entrance and becoming involved in a physical confrontation with a local man wearing a white shirt.

Several other foreign nationals dressed in black can be seen attempting to intervene and separate those involved.

Another local man in a white shirt is also seen striking the shirtless foreigner before the man is eventually pulled away by others.

The footage later spread across social media and attracted widespread attention, prompting North Kuta Police to investigate.

North Kuta Police Chief Kompol I Ketut Sukadana said officers had visited the venue and were comparing the viral footage with information gathered at the scene.

“Our officers have gone to the location to trace the disturbance. We are also matching the video with the information obtained in the field,” Sukadana said on October 5.

Police said the altercation took place at around 11:12 p.m.

Investigators have since questioned the venue’s management and collected information and evidence related to the incident.

Police are also reviewing available footage to establish the full sequence of events and determine the role of each person involved.

As of the latest police update, no formal complaint had been filed by anyone claiming to be a victim in the incident.

Authorities said the case remains under investigation.
