Australian Father Chased Daughter Before Three Bodies Found in Bali Bungalow

BADUNG, Bali — Police have revealed details from CCTV footage recorded inside a bungalow in Legian, Kuta, where the bodies of an Australian father and his two young children were found on Sunday, September 13, 2026.

Denpasar Police Chief Kombes Leonardo Simatupang said the footage showed what investigators believe was an attempt by the father, identified by the initials SDJ, 56, to kill his two children before taking his own life.

The victims were identified as his son, ADS, 6, and daughter, LKS, 4.

According to Leonardo, the CCTV initially captured sounds of a disturbance followed by screams from ADS. The commotion was followed by LKS attempting to flee from her father.

The footage reportedly showed SDJ chasing his daughter inside the bungalow.

“From the CCTV visuals, it can be seen that the girl was being chased,” Leonardo told reporters at the Bali Police headquarters on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

Leonardo said LKS appeared frightened as she tried to escape from her father. At one point, the girl was heard repeatedly saying, “I love you, Daddy,” while being chased.

The girl was eventually caught and taken into a room, where police believe she was killed.

Afterward, SDJ was seen on CCTV checking a storage area and retrieving a blue rope. Police believe the rope was later used by SDJ to take his own life.

Before doing so, SDJ was also seen moving the CCTV camera in the living room.

“From the CCTV, we can see that the husband deliberately moved down the CCTV camera in the living room,” Leonardo said.

Police previously found SDJ hanging from a window grille when officers arrived at the bungalow on Sunday. His two children were found lying on the floor inside the property.

The discovery followed a report from the bungalow’s management after the family failed to respond to attempts to contact them.

Police are continuing to examine the CCTV footage and other evidence as they reconstruct the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
