Police process the crime scene following the fatal stabbing of a Dutch national on Monday night (March 23, 2026).
Badung, Bali — A 49-year-old Dutch national, identified by initials RP, was fatally stabbed outside his villa in Kerobokan, North Kuta, Badung, on Monday night (March 23, 2026).
The attack occurred between approximately 10:00 p.m. and 10:50 p.m. local time, as the victim and his partner, identified as PI (30), were returning to their accommodation.
According to police, the incident began when the couple encountered two men riding a motorbike who appeared suspicious. Sensing danger, the victim asked his partner to secure the villa. Moments later, the suspects launched a sudden knife attack.
One of the assailants was seen wearing a ride-hailing driver jacket, along with a black helmet and face mask, while the other wore an orange shirt. The pair reportedly intercepted the victim before carrying out the assault.
The victim’s partner was chased during the attack and managed to hide in a dark area nearby. From her hiding place, she witnessed the incident until the suspects fled toward the main road.
The victim sustained multiple stab wounds to the neck, face, and back. He was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead at approximately 11:29 p.m. due to severe blood loss.
Police have launched a manhunt for the two suspects, who were captured on CCTV footage lingering around the area prior to the attack. Investigators confirmed that none of the victim’s belongings were taken, indicating that robbery is unlikely to be the motive.
“Initial findings suggest this may be a case of serious assault or a premeditated attack. We are continuing to gather witness statements,” police said.
Authorities have secured several pieces of evidence from the scene, including a mobile phone, glasses, and a broken knife blade believed to have been used in the attack.
The investigation is ongoing.
