DENPASAR, Bali – Two Australian men were sentenced to 16 years in prison by a Bali court on Monday for the premeditated murder of a fellow countryman in a villa shooting last year.
Mevlut Coskun, 22, and Paea-I-Middlemore Tupou, 26, were found guilty by the Denpasar District Court of violating Indonesia’s Criminal Code regarding planned killings. The sentence was two years shorter than the 18-year term requested by prosecutors.
“Sentencing the defendants Mevlut Coskun and Paea-I-Middlemore Tupou each to 16 years in prison,” Presiding Judge Wayan Suarta told the court.
The judge ruled that the pair, along with a third man, Darcy Francesco Jenson, had carried out a “systematically planned” shooting in June 2025 in Munggu Village, Badung. The attack killed Zivan Radmanovic and injured another man, Sanar Ghanim.
The court heard that the operation was financed by an unidentified individual who provided funds for travel, villa rentals, and weapons. The identity of the mastermind remains unknown to authorities.
In a separate trial, Jenson was sentenced to 12 years for his role in providing logistical support, including transportation and accommodation for the shooters.
The shooting occurred in front of the victims’ wives. Radmanovic was reportedly shot in a bathroom, while Ghanim was attacked in a bedroom.
The defendants have seven days to decide whether to appeal the verdict..
