BALI, Indonesia — Unverified reports circulating online allege that a Ukrainian national was kidnapped while vacationing in Bali, with abductors reportedly demanding a US$10 million ransom. Authorities in Indonesia and Ukraine have not confirmed the alleged incident.

The individual named in viral social media posts is Igor Komarov, 28, described in online reports as the son of Oleksandr “Narik” Petrovsky, a controversial figure from the Ukrainian city of Dnipro. Posts claim Komarov was abducted in February during a holiday on the Indonesian resort island.

Viral Video Sparks Speculation

The allegations gained traction after a three-minute video began circulating across platforms including X and Telegram. The footage, which has not been independently verified, appears to show a man with visible facial bruising and a bandaged arm speaking to the camera.

In the recording, the man claims he is being held by a criminal group demanding US$10 million. Some accompanying posts include unverified allegations of severe torture, including claims that fingers were severed. The authenticity of the video and the identity of the individual shown have not been confirmed by authorities.

Additional Allegations Remain Unproven

Several online narratives have also linked Komarov to alleged scam call center operations targeting Russian citizens. These claims remain unsubstantiated and are not supported by official court records or public law enforcement statements.

No formal charges or documented investigations have been made public in connection with those allegations.

Authorities Yet to Confirm

Despite widespread online attention, there is no official confirmation of a kidnapping case involving a Ukrainian national in Bali.

As of publication:

  • Bali Police have not issued a public statement confirming an abduction.
  • Indonesian national authorities have not announced an investigation.
  • Ukrainian diplomatic representatives have acknowledged awareness of viral reports but have not verified the claims.

Without confirmation from law enforcement agencies in Indonesia or Ukraine, the alleged Ukrainian kidnapping in Bali remains an unverified online claim rather than a confirmed criminal case.

The reported US$10 million ransom demand — unusually high even for high-profile kidnappings — has also prompted skepticism among observers.

This is a developing story. Updates will follow if official statements are released.
