US Citizen Deported from Bali for Sexual Retreat

Bali Immigration deports US national JRG (center) for hosting a paid sexual retreat.

BADUNG – Immigration authorities confirmed a US citizen deported from Bali after she misused her tourist visa by organizing a paid sexual retreat in Seminyak.

The 44-year-old woman, identified as JRG, was arrested on Sept. 16 at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport while preparing to fly to Jakarta. She was deported on Thursday after investigators confirmed she had violated immigration rules.

According to officials, JRG arrived in Bali on Sept. 4 using a Visa on Arrival valid until Oct. 4. Instead of traveling as a tourist, she hosted an “Intimacy Mastery Retreat” from Sept. 4–8 at a villa in Seminyak. The program, attended by foreigners from multiple countries, was a paid event offering sessions on intimacy, emotional closeness, and sexual activities.

Authorities reported that photos of equipment linked to sexual practices were discovered during the retreat. The case came to light after a public report triggered cyber monitoring and on-site surveillance by the Immigration Intelligence Team.

“Every foreign national in Indonesia must comply with immigration regulations and respect prevailing legal norms. We will act firmly against those who abuse their stay permits,” said Winarko, Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office Class I Special TPI.

Officials concluded that JRG violated Article 75(1) of Law Number 6 of 2011 on Immigration, which authorizes deportation for visa misuse. The case highlights Indonesia’s strict stance against foreigners conducting illegal business activities in Bali.
