The 42-year-old Peruvian woman faces drug smuggling charges in Bali.
DENPASAR, Bali – A Peruvian woman smuggling drugs was caught at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport after attempting to bring 1.4 kilograms of cocaine and ecstasy into Bali, police revealed on Tuesday.
The suspect, identified as NSBC (42), was arrested on August 12, 2025, at 11:30 PM WITA, in a joint operation between Bali Police and Ngurah Rai Customs. She had arrived on Qatar Airways flight QR 960 from Doha, following a transit from Barcelona, Spain.
Customs officers became suspicious of her behavior upon arrival. An X-ray scan led to a body search, which revealed six plastic packages of cocaine concealed in her green bra, three more packages in black underwear, and a sex toy filled with narcotics inserted into her body.
“The narcotics were hidden in six plastic packages wrapped in black duct tape inside a green bra, three similar packages in black underwear, and a sex toy containing drugs, which was inserted into her body,” said Senior Commissioner Radiant, Bali Police’s narcotics director.
Authorities seized 1,432.81 grams of cocaine and 85 orange ecstasy pills weighing 33.9 grams net, with a street value estimated at Rp10 billion (USD 615,000).
Investigators said NSBC was recruited as a courier by an international drug syndicate and was promised Rp320 million (USD 19,000) by a suspect identified as PB, who remains on the wanted list. She reportedly made contact with the network via the dark web in April.
NSBC has been charged under Article 114(2) of Law No. 35/2009 on Narcotics, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. Indonesia enforces some of the world’s toughest drug laws, including the death penalty for trafficking cases, though executions have been on hold since 2017.
The arrest comes just weeks after three British nationals were sentenced to prison for smuggling cocaine disguised as dessert powder into Indonesia, narrowly avoiding capital punishment.
