DENPASAR, Bali – Three British Citizens Smuggling Cocaine to Bali Sentenced to One Year. The Denpasar District Court sentenced Jonathan Christopher Collyer (38), Lisa Ellen Stocker (39), and Phineas Ambrose Float (31) to one year in prison for smuggling cocaine into Bali.
Previously, customs and Bali Police Narcotics officers arrested Collyer and Stocker at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on February 1 after they arrived from the United Kingdom via Doha, Qatar. They were caught carrying cocaine hidden inside food packages labelled “Angel Delight.” Float, who had arrived earlier, was waiting to pick them up in Bali.
The confiscated evidence included a grey suitcase containing 10 blue plastic packages with various flavours labelled “Angel Delight,” weighing a total of 637.12 grams gross. From Stocker’s luggage, a grey suitcase marked “Kangol,” officers found seven similar packages weighing 443.10 grams gross. All the packages were suspected to contain Class I narcotics in the form of cocaine.
After the transfer of responsibility for the suspects and evidence, prosecutors detained them at Kerobokan Prison for 20 days from May 5 to 25 before submitting the case files to the Denpasar District Court for trial.
The verdict was delivered by Chief Judge Heriyanti on July 24. She stated that the aggravating factor was that the defendants’ actions contradicted Indonesia’s anti-narcotics program. The mitigating factors were that they behaved politely during the trial, admitted their actions, expressed remorse, and claimed they were unaware the packages contained narcotics.
