Singaraja Immigration deported a German national from Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, on July 1, 2025.
DENPASAR – The Singaraja Immigration Office has deported a 75-year-old German national for overstaying his visit stay permit by two and a half months, officials confirmed Tuesday.
The case came to light following a public report concerning a foreign national suspected of violating immigration laws in the Singaraja area. Upon investigation, officers found that the German citizen had arrived in Bali on December 5, 2024, but failed to extend his permit, which had expired prior to June 12, 2025.
“He was found to have overstayed without any extension, and was therefore detained by immigration authorities,” said Singaraja Immigration Head Hendra Setiawan.
Under Article 78 (3) of Law No. 6/2011 on Immigration, the foreigner was subject to administrative action in the form of deportation and deterrence. He was sent back to Munich, Germany, via Bangkok through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.
Authorities noted that under Article 102 of the same law, deportation can be imposed for a period of six months and extended accordingly. In severe cases, foreign nationals may face permanent expulsion if deemed a threat to public order.
As part of ongoing efforts to monitor the presence of foreigners, Singaraja Immigration has established a hotline service at 0813-5390-9733 to receive public reports, accompanied by supporting evidence. A rapid response unit has also been tasked with regular patrols in areas prone to immigration violations.
“We welcome and appreciate the active participation of the public,” Setiawan said.
The jurisdiction of the Singaraja Immigration Office includes Buleleng, Jembrana, and Karangasem regencies. Between January and June 2025, a total of 15 foreign nationals were deported for offenses ranging from overstaying to engaging in unauthorized activities.
