Peed Aya opens the Bali Arts Festival with a vibrant parade of Balinese culture.
DENPASAR, BALI – Foreign tourists and residents in Bali are invited to experience the vibrant opening of the 46th Bali Arts Festival (PKB XLVI) this Saturday, June 22, 2025, at the Bali Art Center in Denpasar.
This year’s festival opens with the Peed Aya, a grand cultural parade showcasing traditional music, costumes, and performances from across the island. The term Peed Aya in Balinese means “to walk together” and represents a sacred cultural procession, uniting all regencies of Bali in celebration of local artistry.
The theme of this year’s festival is “Jana Kerthi Paramaguna Wikrama”, which translates to “Noble Character of the People as the Strength of Civilization.” It reflects a call to preserve cultural values and identity amid modern challenges.
The festival, running until July 20, will feature hundreds of art performances, exhibitions, and cultural competitions. Local and international visitors can immerse themselves in Balinese traditions including dance, shadow puppetry, crafts, literature, and culinary arts.
