MATARAM – Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) experienced a notable upswing in tourism in April 2025, with a significant 43.58 percent increase in international tourist arrivals via Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport (BIZAM) compared to the previous month. Domestic tourist visits also saw a substantial 35.74 percent rise. The popular Gili Trawangan in North Lombok remains a key attraction for visitors.
Head of BPS NTB, Wahyudin, stated that the number of foreign tourists entering through BIZAM in April 2025 reached 7,812 individuals. “This figure marks a 43.58 percent increase compared to March 2025, which recorded 5,441 arrivals,” Wahyudin announced during a press release on Monday (June 2, 2025).
According to BPS NTB data, European tourists dominated international arrivals through BIZAM in April 2025, totaling 3,100 visitors. This was followed by ASEAN tourists (2,811), non-ASEAN Asian tourists (1,169), Oceanian tourists (352), American tourists (331), Middle Eastern tourists (25), and African tourists (24).
The number of domestic tourists visiting NTB in April reached 1,427,974, representing a 35.74 percent month-on-month increase.
North Lombok recorded the highest monthly growth in domestic tourist visits at 93.44 percent, followed by Bima Regency (65.16 percent) and East Lombok Regency (62.58 percent).
In terms of cumulative growth from January to April 2025 compared to the same period last year, North Lombok again led with an 88.93 percent increase, followed by Central Lombok (83.49 percent) and West Lombok (77.65 percent). Conversely, Dompu Regency experienced a cumulative decrease of 57.95 percent, and Bima City saw a 57.28 percent decline.
Regarding the average length of stay, foreign tourists spent an average of 2.37 days in star-rated hotels and 2.04 days in non-star-rated accommodations. Domestic tourists averaged 1.70 days in star-rated hotels and 1.16 days in non-star-rated hotels. The overall average length of stay was 1.98 days in star-rated hotels and 1.61 days in non-star-rated hotels.
